North Borneo Steam Train ~ British Colonial Train Experience

Take a ride on the North Borneo Railway and relieve the nostalgic romance of British North Borneo. Passengers hop on a steam train straight out of the 1900s, chugging along teh tracks from Tanjung Aru, through Kinarut before arriving in the Rice Bowl of Sabah, Papar. Along the way, soak in teh green vistas of sprawling paddy fields, traditional village homes on stilts and buffaloes ambling in the distance. The North Borneo Railway locomotive takes you on a scenic countryside seeing to the first stop of Kinarut Town, to visit the Tien Shi Temple that is known for its fine statues. Proceeding further down on to Papar, visit the local wet market and the shop houses at Papar Town passing by some paddy fields, river and villagers along the way.

On board, passengers are treated to a rare delight: A Tiffin-style breakfast and lunch, comprising of Asian and Continental cuisine. The train features five fully refurbished colonial-style passengers train carriages that can accommodate a total of 180 passengers. The North Borneo Railway is built and operated to the highest of international standards and is fully compliant with modern safety standards.

2D1N Kudat Rungus Longhouse & Tip of Borneo Experience

The Rungus people live in longhouses built on stilts, but the shift to modern-day living has meant that the sight of such longhouses are getting more rare. In Kg Bavanggazo near Tinangol in the Kudat district, you can still experience this fascinating communal lifestyle in a puprpose-built longhouse constructed entirely of traditional materials but with added modern comforts like toilets and showers.

This dramatic headland is situated in the northern-most tip of Borneo, the third largest island in the world, after Greenland and New Guinea. It is located in the Kudat Peninsula, about theree and a half hours ( or 215 kilometres ) drive from Kota Kinabalu City.
